What's this about?

Ladies and gents our story begins with our author who one day packed up his bags to spend the next 5 years of his life on some tropical island far far away. This land is not like any place he has ever been to before. There is no telling of what he may encounter during his stay there but one thing is sure he is going to be in for one crazy adventure. And this is where you get to read about it.

The stories told here maybe appear larger than in real life and at times may even appear outlandish. However, all actual events are in fact real (well, most of them). What may appear as a distortion of reality to some may only be due to the author's perspective of the actual events. Some say he is just not right in the head.

Damn I got to go to church

Is that considered blasphemy? Will I go to hell for saying something like that? My relatives here are very religions and I on the other hand maybe some what of a borderline atheist. I have gone to church more times during these to past two months in the PI than I have gone during the past two years in the states. It's not like I don't want to got to church... not exactly. Over the past few years I have become a little disgusted with the religions intuitions and the half-assed know it all religious fanatics who take it upon themselves to represent those religions. If you were to look back at the history of some these religions take the Catholic Church for example you would find that they haven't been exactly all that holy. Granted the Catholic Church isn't run today like it was during medieval times it still makes me a little reprehensive of the whole thing. And those hypocrite religious fanatics trying to save your soul while ranting about how holy they are and how sinful all nonbelievers are just turn me off to church even more. Isn't there some line in the Bible that states "thou shall not judge"? So maybe they should just lay the #@*$ off. Sorry, getting a little carried away here. The topic is starting to bring back some old memories.

Anyways, I guess spending an hour at church with my relatives won't kill me, though I may start to burn a little when I step inside. But a church outing with them usually includes at least a three hour post-mass supper and I don't really got time for that. Especially, when I haven't read the last three chapters for my biochemistry quiz which is day after. Shit I'm screwed. My aunt believes that if I pray to Mother Mary she will help me pass the quizzes. I'm sorry but I don't have her faith. Hell if I did I wouldn't read shit, I would just pray my way through med school. The facts are though if I don't read the material no amount of praying is going to help me out in passing that quiz, period. Damn I got to figure away out of going to church. Oh shit, I am going to go to hell for this aren't I? Ah, #@*$ it. I'm probably going to go hell for one reason or the other anyways. In the mean time I might as well try and find a way to pass biochem.

Something I've noticed...

Just curious, are all the barbers in the Philippines gay men? Granted, I have only gotten a hair cut three times in the Philippines but all of my barbers were gay men. In fact I don't remember seeing any other barbers in the barber shops who weren't gay men. When I went to the barber shop with my friend he got his hair cut by a gay man. Just this past week three of my classmates got their hair cut by a gay man. I have noticed in the pricier barber shops all the assistants, the ones who stand around only to wipe the hair off your face, are gay men as well. Not that I have anything against gay people, I'm just wondering how did this come about. Is there some unspoken rule stating that you must be gay to cut hair in the PI or a general belief that gay men give the best haircuts? If so what of all the straight men whose sole wish as a young child was to one day grow up and cut hair? Will they be forced into an alternative life style against their wishes only in order to fulfill their dreams or is there a heterosexual barber shop somewhere out there waiting for them?

*If you are wondering how I can tell if these barbers are gay, well then you must have never been to the Philippines. Most gay people out are what you would call in the states "flaming gay". They don't hide it out here baby, they flaunt it sugar. (Man, need an animated smiley that snaps its head side to side)

7th Heaven

I'm sure you have all heard that old adage "you never know what you have until it's gone". Tell me about it. It's the story of my life. Anyway, here's just a few of the things that I'm missin' from back home.

1) An ant free home
I have just realized they have turned both of my hard drives in to a nest. These things are everywhere!

2) California Burrito from Roberto's
I never knew that French fries go so well with in a burrito, until I tried a California burrito at Roberto's. Man, that’s some good stuff.

3) Zachary's Pizza
Just like burritos you can't get any pizza that even comes close to like what they have back home and Zachary's is the best in the bay.

4) The weather
Though lately I can't complain about the weather it's usually hot as hell out here. San Diego has some really nice weather and you really don't realize it until you leave.

5) My aquariums
Taking care of aquariums has some how become a hobby of mine. I got 4 aquariums back home. It can be so relaxing watching my fish and freshwater shrimp swim in and around the plants and wood. Out here I'm just the watching lines of ants run through my room.

6) Real orange juice
Back in the states you can get some decent orange juice about any where, the local corner store, gas station or 7eleven. The best I have tried out here is made from Nestle. Nestle? No it wasn't all that great and no chocolate milk and orange juice would not go good together.

7) Friends and family
Even though once in a while they can drive me crazy I miss them the most. Aww, it could almost bring a tear to my eye. That is if I were capable of showing any real emotions.

An ant's life

Ants have invaded my dorm room. I haven't seen these many ants in one place since I was a kid, digging up ant hills around my grandfather's house with my cousins. Maybe one of these ants is a relative of some ant I sent on fire with a magnifying glass when I was younger and now they're seeking vengeance. These things are getting in to everything. They have even made one of my external hard drives in to a nest! What the #@&%? Of all things in my room I have no clue as to why they decided to turn my hard drive into a little ant condominium. There's nothing for them to eat in these things. It's not like I'm stashing away Snickers and Mars bars away in there. It's just a bunch of wires in there and the casing gets pretty damn hot once it's turned on. You would think that would be a deterrent but noooooo!

Ants have been pouring out of the back of this thing like mad. What's even more of a bitch is that I can't even open this sucker up. For some reason the screws on this Maxtor drive are screwed on so tightly it's like they are welded on. So I got to figure another way to get them out. It would be a bitch if this drive were to crash because some ant mistook one of the disks as a treadmill and ran in to the needle head. I got all my pictures and music files on this drive. I have been having some pretty bad luck since I got out here and that's how it looks like it's gonna stay. Wuppee!

Up and running

Ok, I think I am finally going to be able to keep up blog. I got my DSL finally installed. The monthly cost is a little pricey, especially for the speed that they provide. Back home I'm paying less and my download rates are at least 10 times faster than here. But I guess it will do, basically it will have to do.
I also updated the layout design of the site. It was a little bitch to get the table to finally work right. Well, actually I think it is only working right if you are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Making the layout compatible for Netscape is still giving me some problems. Wouldn't it be nice if they could all just agree on some kind of standard coding so they can give all these website programmers a little bit of a break? Well I guess that's just not the way things work.
Anyways, it looks like I'm up and running. Hopefully I can keep it going.
